South Korea Hardest Hit By North Korean Cyber Attacks

The United Nations is investigating 35 North Korean cyberattacks across 17 countries, according to a report published Aug. 13 by Associated Press. This follows last week’s leaked summary of the report, stating that $2 billion had been hacked by the nation thus far to fund weapons programs. Cyber Criminals Netted $4.3B From Crypto-Related Crime in 2019: Study

Cyber criminals have netted $4.3 billion from digital currency exchanges, investors and users in 2019.  Blockchain security company CipherTrace gave its summary crypto-related theft in its Anti-Money Laundering report that it shared with Cointelegraph on Aug. 12. The chief of the United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Division of Enforcement’s Cyber Unit, Robert A. Cohen, has stepped down from his role at the commission. Cryptocurrency crime forms one focus of a dedicated cybercrime lab launched by Indian authorities this week, Indian daily news outlet The Hindu reported on Feb. 19. Cyber Security Firm Check Point Research Reports of ‘Evolving’ Monero Cryptojacker

Cyber security firm Check Point Research has found that the KingMiner cryptojacker targeting cryptocurrency Monero (XMR) is “evolving,” according to a company’s blog post published Nov. 30. KingMiner was purportedly firstly detected in mid-June, subsequently evolving in two improved versions. The malware attacks Windows Servers by deploying various evasion methods to skirt its detection.
